The Africa's second highest peak Mount Kenya , offers some of the most rewarding mountaineering on the continent. With dramatic scenery, abounding wildlife on its lower plains and challenging routes, to climb Mount Kenya is to experience a feast of the senses. Vertical cliffs, virgin valleys and cascading waterfalls will flank your trail as you explore the best routes on the mountain on this Kenya mountain climbing expedition, which includes reaching the trekker's summit, Pnt Lenana (4985m). Climbers should be experienced rock climbers with ability to climb up to 5.7-5.8. High altitude experience not required but recommended. Mountain Madness Alpine Rock Seminar, Red Rocks or custom climbs in the North Cascades are perfect ways to prepare for the climb.

Mount Kenya

Day 1: Nanyuki In the morning we leave Nairobi for Mount Kenya driving north accompanied by our mountain guide. After a drive of two and a half-hours we arrive in Nanyuki where we spend the night in one of the lodges at the foot of Mt. Kenya.

Day 2: Sirimon track A short drive in the morning will take us to the Sirimon track. We start our trek up Mt Kenya and walk to Old Moses Camp (5 hours walk). Overnight at old Moses Camp (3,400m).

Day 3: Mackinder's Valley Our hike on Mount Kenya takes us via Mackinder's Valley to Shipton's Camp (5 hours walk). Night at Shipton's Camp (4,200m).

Naro Moru

Day 4: Point Lenana Early in the morning we climb Point Lenana (4,985m) .On a very clear day we should be able to see Mt.Kilimanjaro in the South. From the top we walk down to the Meteorological Station (6-7 hours walk). Night at the bandas at the Met. Station.

Day 5: Nairobi After a morning walk we catch the bus/taxi back to Nairobi where we arrive late afternoon.
